Maintenance Period For HCF Claims

The following is the circular sent out regarding claims for HCF:

The Australian Government Agency of Services Australia would like to advise that from Thursday, 17 September 2020 the Private Health Fund HCF will stop transmitting Simplified Billing claims to Medicare in preparation of internal HCF upgrades. This will also lead into HCF stopping the transmission of ECLIPSE claims from Monday, 28 September 2020 in preparation of the upgrades.

What you need to know

These closures are to ensure all current HCF online and Simplified Billing claims are processed and cleared  from these Medicare Claiming channels prior implementation of HCF’s system upgrades. On Friday, 2 October 2020 HCF will shut their claiming channel as the upgrades are rolled out and implemented. HCF have informed Services Australia they expect to be back online for the commencement of trading Tuesday, 6 October 2020.

What you need to do

Please ensure that you advise all of your software users and clients who deal with HCF claiming that they are aware of the above timelines and shutdowns.

Any claims that are transmitted to HCF during the offline period Friday , 2 October 2020 till Tuesday, 6 October 2020 will receive an error code 9671 = The Health Fund identified does not currently accept transmission through this channel and need to be re transmitted once the upgrade is complete.

Any Simplified Billing claims received by HCF between 18 September and 1 Oct 2020 will held by HCF until commencement of trading Tuesday, 6 October 2020.  This also applies for ECLIPSE claims  transmitted between 28 September – 1 October.  

HCF are working closely with Services Australia to implement their changes to ensure minimal disruption for their customers and vendors.
